New page

Players wishing to enhance the performance of their EverQuest client can use the approaches on this page to do so.

== Upgrade Hard Drive ==

Hard drive speed is a huge factor in zone loading speed, so upgrading to a faster hard drive, or better yet to a Solid State Disk drive, will make a major difference.

== Switch to a USB Hard Drive ==

Another option is to use a USB hard drive (commonly known as a "thumb drive") to hold the EverQuest game, which can then be run directly from that drive.

To fit the game on the drive it can be helpful to utilize "EQLite"

=== EQLite ===
EQLite is a script created by FatMagic which eliminates many of the files in the Titanium directory. This is possible because the Titanium installation includes files for many zones that aren't a part of Project 1999, and so will never be used (but do take up space).

Running this script will create an approximately 1.35GB client (down from the 3.6GB base Titanium installation).

All graphics, sounds, maps & effects are kept intact, but ONLY Classic, Kunark & Velious Zones are kept - all other zones were removed. The only exception is that the Plane of Time (unclassic) zone is kept, for the CTF event put on by server GM's (added 5-30-10)
