Source code in DikuMUD uses the term &amp;#039;&amp;#039;mob&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (Mobile Object) to refer to a generic NPC. DikuMUD heavily influenced the original developers of EverQuest. The term is attributed to multi-user dungeon (MUD) developer Richard Bartle.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
