New page

Enchanter + Cleric Duo Guide
Overview

The Enchanter + Cleric duo is:

Fun!: it's a blast because it stretches the possibilities of classic EQ duos to the max

The most* powerful duo for difficult mobs: outside of a few corner cases (mostly involving Puppet Strings, assorted clickies, and a shaman)

Insanely fast exp duo: beaten only by two charmers and aoe strategies

What this guide is

This guide is to provide color on the high level (think 40s/50s) cleric/enchanter duo. It should provide information on how to maximize: EXP OR Success In Hard Camps

This is loosely applicable to the other long duration charming classes, assuming they replaced the enchanter in the duo: necro, and even less so, druid

What this guide isn't

This is not a stand alone enchanter solo guide, and there will be a lot of finer details re: best charming practices left unsaid. For any enchanters reading this, I highly recommend first being familiar with both: Xornns Enchanter Guide and Loraen's Enchanter Guide.

This is also not an all encompassing guide for the duo, and as of writing this now, the goal is not to go into detail on how to duo specific camps (i.e. best practices for duoing Khelkar Icepaw)

How we (and what I mean by) maximize EXP

Assuming all things being equal, (no ZEM variance, no mob state variance within same level, unlimited access to mobs), you maximize EXP by maximizing sustained damage out. That is, sustained dps to mobs that you plan on killing for exp over time. We are talking hour+ time frames here.

The Charmed Pet
The reality of classic EQ is that a charmed pet has way more HP and more DPS than player tanks and player DPS. Furthermore, an enchanter, through their pet, provides both of those requirements in addition to CC/the ability to break camps. Its overpowered - so it goes. If you are curious to see just how far you can stretch the DPS of a charmed pet, I encourage you to check out gamparse. If you are curious as to how much HP a charmed pet has, either check the wiki or look at what the complete heal number comes in at.

Conclusion
