&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;Originally (in the classic era) EverQuest could not be played in windowed mode; only full-screen.  However, a third-party program called EQW allowed windowed play.  EQW was technically banned but because it only ran on the client-side it (and another client-side third-party program, [[ShowEQ]]) were  difficult to detect, and thus many players used it.&lt;br /&gt;

A newer version of this program known as EQW2, from a company called Lavishsoft, is still used by some Project 1999 players today to resolve specific game issues.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
